Capabilities
Our Product Liability team, an eight-time Law360 Practice Group of the Year, leverages knowledge of the complex science and technology behind today’s products to deliver litigation victories. With over 175 lawyers across the world, we handle the most significant individual, multidistrict, mass tort and class action lawsuits for product manufacturers, including pharmaceutical, medical device, automotive, transportation, tobacco, consumer product and chemical manufacturers.
Drawing on the collective knowledge of our FDA, regulatory, e-discovery, government investigations and appellate teams, we work with our clients to develop and execute a comprehensive and proactive strategy tailored to our clients’ objectives. When that strategy requires trying a case, we offer our clients a unique range of trial experience that is increasingly unusual in firms of our size. While many firms have the ability to “litigate” cases, we have that ability plus we try product cases each year in some of the most challenging jurisdictions for corporate clients.
Automotive work has been a staple of our practice for over 50 years. Manufacturers frequently turn to our top-ranked Automotive Litigation Team for their highest profile matters, drawing on our deep bench to successfully manage and try catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, as well as to develop strategies for complex resolutions of bet-the-company litigation.
Our Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Litigation Team, ranked Tier 1 by Legal 500, helps manufacturers navigate the litigation life cycle, from risk assessments through trial and appeal. Working with more than 300 lawyers and professionals who devote all or a substantial portion of their practices to life-sciences clients, we know the industry and governing laws better than anyone.
The lawyers in our Tobacco and Consumer Products Trial Practice regularly try complex issues with sympathetic facts before juries and try as many cases each year (13 in 2019) as any other group in the country. With this wealth of trial experience comes the unique ability to take an array of complex and challenging facts, translate them into plain English, and communicate them effectively to a jury.
