Our programs for law students provide opportunities to experience what it is like to be a lawyer at King & Spalding. Opportunities include a summer associate program in our U.S. offices for first- and second-year law students and a London-based trainee contract program.

K&S Summer Summit

King & Spalding summer associates participate in the K&S Summer Summit – a two-day retreat of educational and social programming culminating in a group mock witness interview and mock negotiation exercise.

Connect K&S

Connect K&S allows summer associates to visit another U.S. office during their summer. Through this program, summer associates experience first-hand the benefit of having talented lawyers spread across a global footprint and experience our collaborative, cross-office approach to serving our clients.

Toward Greater Diversity

Any law student is eligible to apply for our Diversity Fellowships that confer a stipend and a summer associate position in one of our U.S. offices.

2023 Summer Program

King & Spalding hosted 86 law students across eleven U.S. offices during the 2023 K&S Summer Associate Program.

Summer associates experience what it’s like to be a lawyer at King & Spalding by working on challenging matters for real clients. Our summer program is coordinated by a team in each office who work to ensure each summer associate has the right mix of substantive work, training, and social engagement.

We encourage a culture of mentorship and development. Our summer associates receive hands-on training working with our lawyers and are paired with summer advisors who provide guidance on assignments and help the summer associates integrate into the firm. Weekly professional development opportunities include luncheon seminars, attendance at practice group meetings, and off-site client visits.

Our current summer associate salary is $4,326 per week
