Law360 Names King & Spalding a Product Liability Practice Group of the Year

NEW YORK, Dec. 17, 2020 — Law360 has recognized King & Spalding’s Product Liability practice as a 2020 Practice Group of the Year for its victories “erasing a $454 million defective medical equipment verdict against Kimberly-Clark Corp. at the Ninth Circuit and helping Honda toss $1.7 billion worth of defect claims,” among others. This is the eighth time the firm has earned this recognition.

In its profile of the practice, Law360 highlights its win on behalf of Halyard Health Inc. and Kimberly-Clark when the Ninth Circuit vacated a lower court's judgment, erasing what was once a $454 million verdict, and decertified a class of California hospitals and health care providers. Law360 also cited the team’s summary judgment for Honda in a proposed class action alleging transmission defects in 2011-2016 Honda Odyssey vehicles, wins for R.J. Reynolds in “Engle progeny” tobacco litigation in Florida, and its successes for J&J in talc litigation involving allegations of cancer-causing asbestos in baby powder.

Law360’s annual Practice Group of the Year honors are given to the law firms behind the “litigation wins and major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry” in the past year. The Practice Groups of the Year were selected from among 775 submissions from 81 law firms.

In addition to being named a Product Liability Practice Group of the Year, the firm is also recognized as a 2020 Practice Group of the Year for Construction, International Arbitration and Structured Finance.
