Antitrust & Consumer Protection

Our Antitrust & Consumer Protection team is a globally integrated practice built for the most complex and consequential competition matters in the U.S. and beyond. Working seamlessly across trial, investigations, and transaction teams, we defend companies in high-stakes disputes and government investigations, guide transactions through merger control, and provide practical counseling that keeps legitimate business strategies moving. We represent clients before antitrust and competition authorities in the U.S., the European Union, the UK and other jurisdictions around the world.

Across disputes, we handle complex civil matters involving monopolization, price-fixing, market allocation, labor-market restraints (including no-poach and wage-fixing theories), information sharing, exclusionary conduct, predatory pricing, bid rigging, and emerging issues such as alleged algorithmic coordination. Our trial teams take cases from beginning to end, including matters proceeding in parallel with Department of Justice or Federal Trade Commission scrutiny. At both the trial and appellate levels, we aggressively develop economic evidence and expert analysis to defeat class certification and dispose of substantive claims.

On the government regulation and investigations side, clients benefit from a team that includes former senior officials from the FTC and the DOJ Antitrust Division (including leadership roles in criminal enforcement), along with other FTC and DOJ veterans. We regularly appear before federal agencies and state attorneys general and help clients respond strategically to civil and criminal inquiries, build and test compliance programs, and reduce risk in day-to-day commercial decision-making.

In transactions, we field a deeply knowledgeable and experienced regulatory clearance team. We advise on highly scrutinized mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic alliances. We manage Hart-Scott-Rodino analysis, Second Requests, remedies negotiations, and merger challenges, coordinating closely with deal teams so advocacy is consistent, credible and trial-ready if disputes escalate. We also coordinate multi-jurisdictional clearances, including EU and other non-U.S. reviews, Phase II investigations, and responses to Article 11 requests, with careful attention to jurisdiction and cross-border information disclosure.

We serve clients across healthcare, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, telecommunications, media, financial services, energy, technology, manufacturing, consumer products, and transportation – including matters intersecting with intellectual property, consumer protection, data privacy, and regulated-industry requirements. We also leverage advanced discovery and analytics tools to manage large data sets and control costs without sacrificing rigor.
