Government Advocacy & Public Policy

For more than 30 years, our Government Advocacy & Public Policy team has helped corporations, associations, governments, and other organizations advance policy and business objectives at the federal, state, and local levels. We assist our clients in navigating the legislative process, from introduction, committee consideration, floor debate and amendment to enactment, statutes, pursue federal funding, and provide practical, bipartisan problem-solving that bridges the gap between government and industry.

We partner with clients to develop and implement strategies to maximize opportunities, minimize risk, and accomplish strategic goals, including:

  • Bridging the gap between government and industry
  • Navigating regulatory requirements
  • Developing and implementing legislative and executive-branch strategies
  • Representing clients in interactions with Congress, the executive branch, state legislatures, and state attorneys general
  • Counseling on corporate social responsibility initiatives
  • Advising on campaign finance, ethics, and lobbying activities
  • Advising on foreign policy and Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) matters

Our team draws on deep Washington experience and bipartisan relationships and includes former members of Congress and other former government officials with decades of legislative and executive branch service. That firsthand perspective – paired with close relationships across Congress, federal agencies, state legislatures, and state attorneys general – allows our team to leverage the combined, deep-seated industry and technical experience of all the firm’s lawyers and deliver advocacy plans tailored to each client’s objectives.

Our lobbying practice includes well-known figures in public policy advocacy with experience at the highest reaches of government.

We work closely with the firm’s Congressional Investigations team, known for representing global brands in high-profile, high-stakes investigations. Together, we guide clients through congressional inquiries while helping minimize the legal and public relations risks they often pose.

We also counsel and represent clients on executive and congressional ethics and election law at the state and federal levels, drawing on extensive experience with technical congressional procedures that can be an invaluable factor in legislative victories.
