Capabilities
Our Construction and Engineering Disputes team works with some of the world’s largest owners, developers, contractors, consultants, and financiers to resolve complex construction disputes—frequently bet-the-company matters—in ways that support their business goals. Our attorneys have in-depth experience in the construction and engineering industries, with decades of experience in the disciplines of engineering, construction management, construction programming/scheduling -delay analysis, and construction cost accounting. We have top-ranked construction lawyers throughout our worldwide network of offices, giving King & Spalding one of the broadest and deepest benches of construction and engineering lawyers in the world.
Energy is our forte. We focus on disputes arising from upstream, midstream and downstream energy-related projects, including refineries, gas plants, LNG, GTL, pipelines, offshore production facilities, all types of power plants and other types of infrastructure projects. We also represent clients in significant disputes arising from the construction of buildings, factories, transportation and healthcare projects.
King & Spalding brings industry and legal experience, resourcefulness, tenacity and commitment to ensure legal and commercial success in construction dispute resolution. We represent clients in construction-related disputes ranging from a few million dollars to over $10 billion, and litigate disputes concerning projects throughout the U.S., South America, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia.
We often work as “Project Counsel” with clients during construction to manage issues as they arise, ensuring that our clients’ interests are fully protected and that they are in the best position possible to amicably resolve issues. Yet, when a formal dispute is unavoidable, we are at home in every type of dispute resolution forum—state and federal court, domestic and international arbitration, and in-project dispute resolution boards.
We have experience in the full gamut of construction-related claims including:
