Tim Burbury focuses on construction and infrastructure projects and is co-deputy of Global Energy & Project Finance transactional practice and deputy of the Global Construction transactional practice. He serves on the Firm’s AEC Committee. He is presently advising on one of the world's largest construction projects valued in the USD billions. He has also recently advised on renewable and conventional power projects that have won Deal of the Year accolades.
Tim has led teams on many high profile infrastructure projects, including many Vision2030 utility projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, including Al Dhafrah IPP, Dumat IPP, Sakaka IPP, Sharjah IPP, Fujairah 3 IPP, Tanajib IWPP, Jafurah IWPP, Facilty E IWPP, Yanbu IV IWP, Jubail 3B IWP, Rabigh 3 IWP, Shuqaiq 3 IWP, Dammam ISTP and the Red Sea PPP.
Tim's experience extends to 'mega' and 'giga' projects, including the Saadiyat Island Project in Abu Dhabi and several confidential giga projects in the Middle East for SWFs.
Tim has advised on 50+ district energy (cooling/cogen/trigen) projects in the Middle East and Asia, included projects and project financings in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrain and Qatar. He has advised Governments on establishing water and district cooling regulatory regimes.
Tim also has significant PPP experience, having advised governments and sponsors since the early 2000s during the Australia PPP boom. Tim helped write the PPP commercial principles guidebook for one government client. He has recently advised on a number of schools, accommodation and transport PPPs in the UAE and Saudi Arabia as part of those countries’ PPP programs.
