People

Kristen is an experienced mass tort and product liability litigator who provides sophisticated defense strategies to companies facing high profile, high risk matters. She is known for her understanding of jury demographics and trends and crafting messages aligned with the jury composition and company story to meet her clients’ objectives. Whether serving as national coordinating counsel or trying individual matters, she leverages her knowledge of human behavior and motivations to guide juries to the right conclusion for her clients.

Kristen has been ranked in Chambers USA for product liability and mass torts every year since 2016, with clients praising her “great gift for long-term strategy,” and describing her as “a very skilled trial attorney who is strategic, smart and efficient.” The Legal 500 U.S. hails her as “an 'outstanding trial lawyer,' who is 'very talented at developing, implementing and organizing national strategy in mass tort defense.'”

Kristen acts as national coordinating counsel for The Dow Chemical Company's wholly owned subsidiary, Union Carbide Corporation, in relation to its substantial asbestos docket. She regularly serves as trial counsel in the company's most difficult and dangerous cases in jurisdictions like New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Miami and New Orleans. She routinely negotiates multi-million dollar settlements involving multiple cases and claims, but also develops case work up and trial strategies to address cases that cannot be resolved via settlement. She is responsible for ensuring that a uniform approach is applied across jurisdictions so that the client maintains a consistent defense and secures desirable results nationwide.

Kristen also plays a critical role in the national coordination of Johnson & Johnson’s high-profile talc docket in which the company faces allegations that its talcum powder products caused mesothelioma and ovarian cancer.

Kristen has represented Dow in a wide variety of toxic tort and product matters over time, including cases alleging exposures to TCE/TCA, vinyl chloride and ethylene oxide.  Outside of product liability matters, Kristen has defended professional service firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers in a jury trial alleging accounting malpractice.
