Bio

Isaac Young advises insurers, reinsurers, asset managers, and insurance-focused investors on complex strategic transactions and capital solutions. A former in-house counsel at a global (re)insurance company, he brings practical industry insight to reinsurance, insurance-linked investment, M&A, and other transactions that combine regulatory, capital markets, and corporate considerations. He helps clients identify risks early, navigate regulatory processes, and execute transactions efficiently from structuring through closing.

Clients turn to Isaac when a transaction requires both commercial execution and regulatory judgment. He advises on collateralized reinsurance transactions, sidecar and special purpose vehicle structures, quota share arrangements, insurance-sector investments, and other transactions involving significant insurance regulatory considerations. He regularly helps clients combine reinsurance, investment management, and corporate structures to achieve strategic objectives while addressing regulatory requirements and stakeholder concerns.

Isaac also maintains a substantial Japan-related practice. He previously spent six years as in-house counsel to the U.S. subsidiary of a major Japanese trading house and, before that, represented Japanese clients in New York and Tokyo across the infrastructure, real estate, technology and industrial sectors. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he lived and worked in Miyagi Prefecture as a participant in Japan's JET Programme and later studied advanced Japanese at the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies in Yokohama. These experiences give him a deep understanding of Japanese business culture and proficiency with the Japanese language, and enable him to help Japanese companies and their affiliates navigate legal, business and cultural issues with complex transactions and investments in the United States and other international markets.
