People

Geoffrey M. King is a partner in King & Spalding's Private Credit and Special Situations group. Mr. King represents lenders, large and mid-size corporate debtors, equity sponsors, independent directors, distressed asset purchasers, and other parties on complex restructurings, special situation matters, and distressed transactions.

Throughout his career, Mr. King has advised clients in connection with a wide array of restructuring-related matters, with a primary focus on:

  • in- and out-of-court restructurings and workouts, including debt for equity conversions and distressed sales,
  • debtor-in-possession financing,
  • distressed acquisitions, including section 363 sales in chapter 11 proceedings,
  • corporate governance matters, including counseling equity sponsors and existing board members in connection with consensual and non-consensual restructuring scenarios,
  • independent investigations on behalf of board special committees,
  • liability management matters,
  • cross-border restructurings, and
  • chapter 11 proceedings.

Mr. King has helped clients navigate complex situations in both in-court and out-of-court scenarios in a variety of industries, including healthcare, automotive, pharmaceutical, shipping, and publishing.
