LONDON, May 27, 2015 — For the first time, King & Spalding was ranked in The Lawyer’s annual “Top 30 International Firms in London” list.
“The firm’s arrival in the table follows a period of continued growth over the past five years … both in London and on the wider international stage,” the publication noted.
King & Spalding also fared well in The Lawyer’s additional sub-rankings, securing the ninth spot for revenue per lawyer, and 17th for revenue per partner. The firm placed 30th in the overall rankings. The ranking also highlighted King & Spalding’s notable growth in the region, mentioning the London office’s 72 percent increase in total lawyer headcount since 2010, 64 percent increase in total partner headcount and 135 percent increase in UK revenue.
King & Spalding opened its London office in 2003. In the last year, the office has recruited partners Elisabeth Baltay (restructuring and finance from Bingham McCutchen), Tom O’Neill (capital markets from Linklaters), Markus Bauman (capital markets from Latham & Watkins), Stuart Isaacs QC (global disputes from Berwin Leighton Paisner) and Daniel Friel (tax from Latham & Watkins). In April, Nick Cherryman, former Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson’s London head of international disputes, joined the firm. The London office now has 23 partners.
