ATLANTA, February 6, 2012 — Rahul Patel, a partner at King & Spalding, was appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to the board of trustees of the University of Florida. Patel’s term runs through January 6, 2020. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the state senate.
Patel, 42, is a member of King & Spalding’s corporate practice group in Atlanta. He is a former president of the University of Florida National Alumni Association and is a member of the University of Florida Hall of Fame. Patel received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida.
Patel focuses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic corporate transactions and general corporate work. He also handles a significant number of cross-border transactions, particularly involving Indian companies. He is a member of King & Spalding’s 10-person policy committee, which is responsible for firm policies, strategic initiatives and the overall enhancement of the firm.
