PARIS, 5 January 2023 – Thomas Philippe has joined King & Spalding as a partner in its Corporate, Finance and Investments (CFI) practice group in Paris.
Philippe’s practice focuses on M&A, with an emphasis on the French and European private equity markets and the representation of investment funds and private debt providers. He has broad experience handling small-, mid- and large-cap leveraged buyout and management buyout transactions, as well as the restructuring of LBOs.
“Thomas has strong relationships and an excellent reputation in the European private equity community, as well as top-notch experience handling the types of complex M&A and private equity transactions our clients turn to us for,” said Todd Holleman, leader of the firm’s CFI practice group. “He is a great fit for our team, both because of the synergies between his strengths and our practice and because of the collaborative and entrepreneurial approach that he brings.”
Philippe joins the firm from the Paris office of Shearman & Sterling, where he was a partner.
“We are excited to continue the strong momentum of our Paris transactional offering with Thomas as the newest addition to our growing team,” said Vanessa Benichou, managing partner of the firm’s Paris office. “Thomas provides important additional depth and a client-first focus that will be important as we continue to build on our platform here.”
Philippe received his Master in Business Administration from ESSEC Business School and his Master in Business Law from Université Paris-X Nanterre.
“King & Spalding’s corporate practice is on a strong trajectory in Europe and beyond, so I am excited to be joining the firm at such an opportune time,” said Philippe. “I am eager for the opportunities for collaboration and cross-selling ahead, and for how that will help expand the ways we are able to serve our European private equity clients.”
Philippe is the fourth partner to join the firm’s CFI practice in Paris over the past several months, following tax partner Olivier Goldstein, finance partner Fernand Arsanios and employment partner Alice Mony. The firm also added five corporate partners in London and a five-lawyer corporate team in Frankfurt in 2022.
