Sam is a highly-skilled litigator who advocates primarily on behalf of consumer-facing companies, both large and small, in commercial litigation.  The Daily Journal recognized Sam for a "Top Defense Verdict" in 2020 in helping secure dismissal with prejudice of a putative class action raising TCPA claims.  He has drafted successful dispositive and discovery motions in federal and state court, negotiated favorable settlements, and efficiently coordinated multiple high-volume e-discovery matters.  Also important to Sam's practice is his pro bono work, through which he has, with others, obtained an injunction to improve the conditions of detention in Border Patrol facilities in Arizona and won asylum for an indigent youth from Mexico.

Sam is an accomplished trial attorney who focuses his practice on the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.  In 2020, for instance, he was awarded “Defense Verdict of the Year” by the Daily Journal for securing a swift dismissal of a TCPA class action lawsuit.  He also routinely works with his client’s products teams to identify exposure they face and develop their privacy policies, terms of service, and marketing practices.

Sam’s attention to detail, responsiveness to client needs, and vigorous advocacy all translate to efficiency and success in other matters, including internal and government investigations, consumer and securities class action defense, enforcement of arbitration awards, privacy advice, and breach of contract and partnership disputes.  Clients across the technology, gig economy, start-up, finance, and retail sectors specifically seek Sam out because he prioritizes understanding their own unique goals—to wit, he does not rely on a one-size-fits-all strategy for any client.

Equally important to Sam is his commitment to pro bono, through which he has, among other notable victories, obtained a permanent injunction to rectify the inhumane conditions in all the border patrol facilities in Arizona.

Sam graduated from Harvard Law School in 2015, where he was a research assistant for Professor Laurence Tribe and Co-President of the Harvard Mediation Program.  He clerked for a federal district court and a federal circuit court before joining King & Spalding.
