Rose J. Hunter Jones joined the firm in 2003 and co-leads King & Spalding’s Legal 500 Tier 1 ranked e-discovery practice. Rose is dedicated to understanding and managing the intersection of legal and technical issues that now largely dominate American and global litigation, data breach response, and government investigations. She devotes her entire practice to crisis management, eData, and technology. Rose is ranked in Chambers USA and Chambers Global as one of the world’s top lawyers in e-discovery litigation practice. According to Chambers USA, Rose is a “seasoned counsellor to clients on diverse e-discovery concerns as they relate to government investigations” while Legal 500 notes “Rose Jones is particularly experienced in cross-functional collaboration, advising businesses on information governance, data privacy and security, and discovery.”
Crisis Management
As a crisis manager with 20 years’ experience, Rose works closely with clients legal, information technology, compliance, and records management departments to strategize, manage and defend corporations when facing the most complex and high-value matters. Rose leverages her experience and Industrial and Systems Engineering degree (B.S., Georgia Institute of Technology) to ensure her team is on the leading edge of developments in legal technology, adapting the firm’s processes and client offerings as each new technology emerges.

Rose advises clients on federal, state and international legal requirements including pre- and post- litigation compliance strategies. She leverages her expertise to complement and work with various King & Spalding practices including Pharmaceutical and Medical Device litigation, Automotive & Transportation Litigation, Business Disputes and Securities Litigation, International Arbitration, Intellectual Property, Toxic & Environmental Torts, Antitrust, Special Matters and Government Investigations, Environmental, Health, and Safety, and Data, Privacy & Security.
Privacy & Data Breach Response
Rose has expertise in emerging global data privacy issues that are key to major industries in every country in the world, including building an international practice placing key personnel in various countries. Rose guides her clients through the process to comply with data privacy regulations across multi-functional groups within a corporation, including global corporations in the UK, Japan, Mexico, and Germany, and developing and executing defensible strategies for cross-border discovery and transfers of data.
E-Discovery Transformation
Rose has developed and built internal eData and e-discovery programs for some of the largest corporations in the world, including selection and implementation of technology. Rose assists with defensible development and execution of records retention policies, specifically focused on emerging technologies, including collaboration software, mobile device data and, more recently, the metaverse.
Technology Advisement
Leveraging her computer programming and database education, Rose works closely with technology providers to innovate and develop customized strategies and applications to address emerging technology with a focus on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), data mining and machine learning.

Thought Leadership
Rose is actively engaged in e-discovery thought leadership and shaping the law around emerging issues. She chairs the International Electronic Information Management, Discovery, and Disclosure Technology Committee of Working Group 6 of The Sedona Conference. She regularly participates as faculty of The Sedona Conference Discovery Negotiation Training program, participates in the Duke Law School Advanced eDiscovery Program, Cleveland Marshall School of Law’s E-Discovery Distance Learning Program, Electronic Discovery Institute’s (EDI) e-Discovery Distance Learning program, and sits on the planning committee of the annual University of Florida Law School e-discovery Conference, which has quickly emerged as one of the leading e-discovery conferences. Rose frequently participates on panels for several industry think tanks including Sedona, Legal Week, International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), EDI, Women in Engineering (WiE), and the Privacy & Technology section of the Georgia Bar.
Mentorship & Leadership
Rose received the 2020 King & Spalding “Mentor of the Year” award which is one of the highest recognitions that a lawyer can receive at the firm; mentoring other lawyers is one of the most important ways King & Spalding strengthens the firm and its lawyers. Rose also is a member of King & Spalding’s Extended Technology Leadership Board. She consistently gives back to the community through her participation in the Atlanta Women’s Foundation (AWF) Inspire Atlanta leadership program and sits on the 2022 Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) Annual Campaign committee.
