Chris Eby represents leading companies in complex commercial litigation in federal, state, and administrative venues across the country.  Chris has also defended large corporations, elected officials, and private individuals in federal regulatory and criminal investigations.  He navigates clients through all stages of cases—from pre-litigation diligence, to initial fact gathering and data preservation, through discovery and motions practice, up to trial and post-trial appellate proceedings.

Chris has played a leading role litigating cases on both sides of the "v."  He has broad subject-matter experience in commercial contract cases, federal and state constitutional claims, mass-tort and class-action matters, securities litigation, and intellectual property disputes.  His corporate clients have included life sciences, healthcare, aerospace, fintech, and software companies.  As a former federal law clerk to a district-court judge and a chief court-of-appeals judge, Chris knows what arguments persuade trial judges and what issues make appellate judges tick.

Chris also maintains an active pro bono practice, particularly in federal immigration court.  He has secured asylum for persecuted individuals from Russia, Eritrea, Mexico, and Venezuela—in each case persuading an immigration judge, after extended briefing and a merits hearing, to release the asylee from detention and grant deportation relief.

Chris received his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Georgia College & State University, earning the highest GPA in his graduating class.  Between his undergraduate and law school studies, Chris translated several works of French philosophy into English and cooked in restaurants.  Before graduating with honors from The University of Chicago Law School, Chris served as Executive Articles Editor of The Chicago Journal of International Law and as a student lawyer managing Title VII class actions brought by The University of Chicago's Mandel Legal Aid Clinic.
