As of January 1, 2023, the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtgesetz) is in effect. But are most real estate owners, real estate managers, real estate funds or real estate agents affected by it at all? After all, the law only applies to companies that employ at least 3,000 people in Germany. Even considering the threshold will drop to 1,000 employees on January 1, 2024, that would still be above the typical company size in the real estate industry.
