Ruth Byrne Appointed to Queen’s Counsel 2021 List


LONDON, Dec. 22, 2021 — King & Spalding Trial & Global Disputes partner Ruth Byrne has been appointed to the Queen’s Counsel 2021 list. The title of QC is awarded to those who have demonstrated particular skill and expertise in the conduct of advocacy in England and Wales.

Byrne, who is a solicitor advocate in the London office, specializes in international commercial disputes across a wide range of industry sectors. She has advised clients on disputes arising in multiple jurisdictions (notably in Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe) and from a wide range of different industry sectors including energy, construction, manufacturing and retail, asset management and banking. She has appeared as counsel in arbitrations under all of the leading institutional rules (ICC, LCIA, AAA/ICDR, SCC, Swiss Rules and ICSID) as well as ad hoc arbitrations and sits regularly as arbitrator.

Queen’s Counsel are appointed by The Queen, on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, who is in turn advised by an independent selection panel which receives and considers each application and makes recommendations as to appointment.
