King & Spalding Again Named Legal Services Provider of the Year by Petroleum Economist

LONDON, Sept. 16, 2016 — Petroleum Economist has again named King & Spalding “Legal Services Provider of the Year” at the 2016 Petroleum Economist Awards, held in London yesterday and attended by representatives from across the energy industry.

The publication chose King & Spalding as the winner of this award after consulting with an independent panel of industry experts. “King & Spalding’s energy clients turn to them for a broad range of business and legal advice to help them make major innovations and reach significant milestones,” the publication noted. “The firm has devised strategies for clients constructing major LNG export and petrochemical projects that have achieved the optimum price and contract structure to allow the projects — which otherwise might have stalled or been abandoned, given the current low-price oil and gas environment.”

In particular, Petroleum Economist pointed out that “King & Spalding’s reputation has grown with its multitude of success stories” and noted its “significant experience in working with a number of different stakeholders — from governments to investors and consumers.”

The Petroleum Economist Awards aim to celebrate the people, companies and projects which epitomize the best of the energy industry and to identify and reward examples of innovation and excellence. The Legal Services Provider of the Year Award recognizes the firm whose expertise and involvement consistently delivers measurable value to its clients, through close involvement in a range of energy sector deals, strategic input into clients’ business decisions, significant expertise in the energy sector, and an innovative approach to tackling business challenges.

The publication previously selected King & Spalding as “Energy Advisory Firm of the Year (Legal)” in 2014.

“This award affirms the uniqueness, commitment and quality of our 250-strong global energy team,” said Philip R. Weems, co-head of King & Spalding’s energy practice. “The team prides itself on providing cutting-edge advice on the spectrum of energy matters, including oil & gas, power, renewable and petrochemical issues. This accolade is testament to the genuine depth and breadth of service we offer clients around the world in disputes, transactions and regulatory matters.”
