John Templeman is Counsel in King & Spalding's International Arbitration Practice.
With more than 15 years of experience in international dispute resolution, John specializes in international commercial and investor-State arbitration. He has particular expertise in energy, mining, financial and sovereign-related matters, having represented corporations and State entities across the Americas, Europe and Africa.
Qualified in three jurisdictions (New York, England & Wales and Australia), John has handled international arbitrations around the world under all major arbitral institutions and rules, including the ICC, ICDR, ICSID, LCIA, SCC and UNCITRAL. In addition, he has served as arbitrator under the ICC Rules and has handled multi-jurisdictional litigation before the U.S., U.K. and Australian courts.
Prior to joining King & Spalding, John served as the global manager of another leading international arbitration practice in New York, and was a senior associate at a magic circle law firm in London. He has obtained an MBA from the University of London, two diplomas in international arbitration, Fellowship status of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), and is on the panel of arbitrators of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
John has been recognized by Legal 500 United States as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’, Who's Who Legal as a ‘Future Leader: International Arbitration’ and Expert Guides as a ‘Rising Star: Commercial Arbitration’.
