The Biden Administration’s New OSHA and CMS Rules: Implications for Healthcare Providers

Join us for a briefing to discuss the impact of the Biden administration’s release of the new Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rules regarding vaccine mandates. As part of their goal to ensure two-thirds of the workforce are covered by vaccination rules, OSHA is requiring employers with 100 or more employees to ensure each of their workers is fully vaccinated by January 4, 2022, or tested for COVID-19 on at least a weekly basis.

Also, CMS is requiring that healthcare workers at facilities participating in Medicare and Medicaid are fully vaccinated. Both rules have significant impact on healthcare providers. The CMS rules apply to all staff of providers who receive Medicare and Medicaid funding, and they present unique risks of enforcement. Topics our speakers will discuss include:

  • The scope of the CMS rule and its applicability to various provider types
  • The required standards for medical and religious exemptions
  • Steps providers can take to document compliance and to maintain Medicare/Medicaid payment and participation
