The international market for large nuclear power plants has recently gained traction, both within countries that have existing nuclear power resources as well as non-nuclear power countries, which have announced an intention to implement, or have already begun the implementation of a national nuclear power programme. This article focuses on the procurement of new build LNPPs by the national government of such countries and/or the state-owned companies task with the responsibilities to procure develop finance construct own and operate new-build large nuclear power plant. Prior to developing a national strategy for the procurement of LNPP’s, the host country and LNPP owner may wish to consider the following factors outlined in the article.
