King & Spalding Advises Eagle LNG on Two LNG Liquefaction Projects

HOUSTON, Jan. 29, 2016 — King & Spalding advised Eagle LNG Partners Jacksonville II, LLC (“Eagle LNG”), a subsidiary of Eagle LNG Partners LLC (www.eaglelng.com) in connection with a major LNG supply transaction with Crowley Puerto Rico Services, a subsidiary of Crowley Maritime Corporation. To support Crowley’s LNG needs, Eagle LNG will build a natural gas liquefaction plant (LNG plant) offering a capacity of approximately 200,000 gallons per day (87,000 gallons per day initially) in Jacksonville, Florida.

In December 2015, Crowley Puerto Rico Services, Inc. selected Eagle LNG as the liquefied natural gas supplier for the company’s new LNG-powered, Commitment Class ships. The project will provide LNG fuel for new Jones Act ships: the El Coquí and the Taíno.

In addition, the firm is advising another Eagle LNG Partners entity  on a separate proposed LNG export terminal having a processing capacity of up to 1,500,000 gallons of LNG per day, with on-site LNG storage of 12,000,000 gallons to be located along the St. Johns River, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Eagle LNG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ferus Natural Gas Fuels LP, a  portfolio entity owned by private equity fund, The Energy & Minerals Group.

King & Spalding partners representing Eagle LNG include Ken Culotta (Houston), Jim Bowe (Washington DC) and Kathryn Furman (Atlanta), with assistance from Archie Fallon (Houston). In-house attorneys advising Eagle LNG include Nancy Dilts QC  (General Counsel) and Gus Lu (Legal Counsel).

This transaction represents another “benchmark” LNG representation for King & Spalding, whose attorneys regularly represent clients in innovative import and export projects in the United States and internationally. For additional detail on our global LNG capabilities, please consult our LNG brochure.
