Mark Wege and Adam Sowatzka will discuss some of the different ways debtors, Bankruptcy Courts and governmental regulators have viewed and tackled these substantial and costly liabilities. Whether plugging and abandonment obligations in oil and gas bankruptcies or abandonment, reclamation and remediation obligations in coal and other mineral cases, the actions of debtors and regulators can affect third parties who may have joint responsibility for these environmental liabilities.
