Emerging-Companies Lawyer Linda Lorenat Joins King & Spalding in Silicon Valley

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 17, 2015 — In a continued expansion of its corporate practice in California, King & Spalding has recruited Linda Lorenat as a partner to its Silicon Valley office. Lorenat joins King & Spalding from Latham & Watkins, where she worked in the firm’s emerging companies practice. Lorenat’s arrival brings to seven the total number of partners in the firm’s corporate practice in its Palo Alto and San Francisco offices.

“Linda is an outstanding lawyer, and we are very pleased to welcome her to our team of talented corporate lawyers,” said Ray Baltz, leader of King & Spalding’s corporate practice group. “Her corporate experience in the technology and life sciences industries, which are particular focuses of the Palo Alto and San Francisco offices, will help us grow our business and expand our talent base of corporate lawyers in California.”

Lorenat represents start-up and emerging companies on a variety of corporate matters as well as venture capital firms in their investments in start-up and early-stage companies. She also represents major corporations in connection with mergers and acquisitions. Lorenat received a B.A. degree from Santa Clara University and her J.D. degree from Santa Clara University School of Law.

“Linda’s expertise and background working with venture-backed, high-growth companies is an excellent fit with the corporate team in Silicon Valley,” said Judy O’Brien, leader of King & Spalding’s emerging companies practice. “Our start-up work is a growing segment of the corporate practice, and Linda’s experience will help us to continue developing relationships among entrepreneurs as well as firms involved in venture capital, private equity and investment banking.”

Lorenat joins King & Spalding’s team of California-based corporate partners Judy O’Brien, Laura Bushnell, Emma Maconick, Tom Duley, Matt Stewart and Jack Capers, who divides his time between the firm’s Atlanta and Silicon Valley offices.

Lorenat said: “I know several King & Spalding partners personally or by reputation, and I am excited to join them at the firm. I look forward to helping expand the office’s start-up work and grow the firm’s California corporate practice.”
