Jonathan is a trial and appellate litigator with nearly 15 years of experience in patent law. A Ph.D. computer scientist and former judicial law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Jonathan has worked at every level of the U.S. patent system, from patent prosecution through trial and appeal. His practice focuses primarily on issues and appeals work, including client counseling, legal and technical case strategy, dispositive motions practice, and appellate briefing and argument. Outside of patent law, Jonathan has handled a variety of matters in many other legal fields, including copyright law, constitutional law, cybersecurity, product liability, class action, bankruptcy law, international trade, and others.
Jonathan earned his JD cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as president of the Intellectual Property Law Association. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California, San Diego, where his research focused on large-scale and distributed computing. He earned his B.A. in computer science from Colby College, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with departmental distinction.
