Philip E. Holladay Jr. Receives Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service

ATLANTA, January 22, 2015 — Philip E. Holladay, Jr., a partner at King & Spalding, has been named a recipient of the 16th Annual Justice Robert Benham Awards for Community Service. The award will be presented at a special ceremony at the State Bar of Georgia on February 17.

The community service awards are co-sponsored by the State Bar of Georgia and the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism.  Since 1998, these awards have been presented to honor lawyers and judges in Georgia who have made significant contributions to their communities and demonstrate the positive contributions of members of the bar beyond their legal or official work.

Holladay is a member of the board of directors of the Georgia Justice Project  and served as its president and board chair from 2007 to 2008. He is also on the board of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and is currently co-chair of its $5.3 million capital campaign. His pro bono efforts include the representation of prisoners facing the death penalty, low-income tenants facing eviction proceedings in Fulton County and handling an asylum case for a Somali man who fled his homeland due to persecution from Al-Shabaab.

Holladay, a member of King & Spalding’s tort and environmental practice in Atlanta, has 25 years’ experience representing clients and trying cases in state and federal courts in high-exposure product liability matters, commercial disputes, qui tam actions and toxic tort litigation.
