backWASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 17, 2015 — The National Law Journal has selected King & Spalding partner Chris Wray, who chairs the firm’s Special Matters and Government Investigations Practice Group, for its 2015 list of Regulatory and Compliance “Trailblazers.”
The publication’s annual ranking, released Nov. 5, recognizes attorneys “who have made a difference navigating the ever-changing mandates of regulatory and compliance.” The publication adds: “Thanks to these talented legal professionals, corporations and stakeholders are raising the bar and improving outcomes.”
The NLJ in particular noted Wray’s experience as the youngest person to ever lead the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. At the DOJ, Wray oversaw the agency’s efforts to restore the public’s trust in the markets in the wake of the Enron scandal. Wray also increased the Division’s focus on interagency and cross-border efforts in addressing multinational investigation issues such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. At King & Spalding, he leads a team that has worked with 70 of the 90 U.S. Attorney’s Offices and handled investigations in more than 30 countries.
Wray’s practice focuses on representing companies, audit and special committees, and individuals in a variety of white-collar criminal and regulatory enforcement matters, parallel civil litigation, and internal corporate investigations. Since Wray rejoined the firm following his government service, King & Spalding’s Special Matters and Government Investigations Group has been named by Law360 as a “White-Collar Group of the Year” and described as “the premier firm in this practice area” by the U.S. News & World Report/Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms” survey.
