Intelligence and National Security Summit, sponsored by the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA)

King and Spalding Partner Eleanor Hill was a featured speaker at the Intelligence and National Security Summit, held in Washington, D.C. on September 18-19, 2014 and sponsored by the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) and the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA). Addressing the topic “What is Appropriate Intelligence Oversight?”, Hill spoke on the role of Congress and the difficulties inherent in conducting effective oversight in areas where the need for secrecy applies. Hill has substantial experience in such issues, having led oversight efforts in intelligence and national security matters, both as the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Defense and, subsequently, as the Staff Director for the House and Senate Intelligence Committees’ Joint Inquiry into the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001. While at King & Spalding, Hill has represented various government contractors in investigative and compliance matters related to national security.

The Summit, which featured national thought leaders from the public, private, and academic sectors, focused on the issues of intelligence effectiveness, transparency, and accountability. More than 1000 individuals, representing the military, the government, and industry, were in attendance.
