King & Spalding Brussels Antitrust Partner Dr. Salomé Cisnal de Ugarte has been re-appointed as a Non-Governmental Adviser (NGA) by the European Union’s antitrust enforcer, the Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP), for matters concerning the International Competition Network (ICN) with a specific focus on merger control and unilateral conduct issues, for a new term.
Salomé forms part of a group of select EU competition law experts consisting of lawyers and economists in private practice, academia, business, and consumer NGO’s, who have been elected as NGAs to assist the European Commission in its work at the ICN. In this role, she will continue to contribute, alongside the European Commission, to the drafting of and revision of recommended practices, facilitating convergence in merger analysis approaches, and supporting effective cooperation frameworks between competition authorities worldwide. She will also participate in seminars, webinars and workshops. For the current ICN term running until 2028, DG Competition will be co-chairing the ICN Unilateral Conduct Working Group (UCWG) with the Competition Authorities of Brazil, Sweden and Turkey.
