On March 19, 2026, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins delivered remarks at the Practising Law Institute’s SEC Speaks conference. In his prepared remarks, Chairman Atkins discussed the SEC’s efforts to align regulations with how markets operate today, to clarify regulatory jurisdiction among federal regulators, and to remove immaterial disclosure requirements that burden the market without providing a corresponding benefit to investors. He also emphasized that the SEC’s Division of Enforcement is undergoing a “course correction” to prioritize cases that provide meaningful investor protection and move away from “approaches that measure success by volume.”
