SEC Appoints New PCAOB Chair and Board Members

On January 30, 2026, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced new leadership for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), appointing Demetrios (Jim) Logothetis, a former Ernst & Young partner, as Chairman, and Mark Calabria, Kyle Hauptman, and Steven Laughton as Board members. George Botic, who has served as Acting Chairman since July 2025, will continue to serve as a Board Member. The newly appointed Chaiman and Members will serve through the end of 2026 to 2030, depending on their terms.

These appointments signal a renewed emphasis on “sensible, efficient oversight of auditors” and a “refocus” on the PCAOB’s core mission of investor protection, according to Paul Atkins, SEC Chairman.

The transition to the new Board will occur over the next few weeks. Chair Atkins’ statement and the new PCAOB Chairman and Board Members’ biographies are available on the SEC’s website.
