PCAOB Sanctions Audit Partner for Violations of PCAOB Rules and Standards

On October 7, 2025, the PCAOB announced a settled disciplinary order sanctioning Daniel Carpio Diaz (“Carpio”), a former partner in the Lima, Peru office of Paredes, Burga, & Asociados Sociedad Civil de Responsabilidad Limitada. Without admitting or denying the Board’s findings, Carpio agreed to the Order which (1) censured him, (2) barred him from being an associated person of a registered public accounting firm for a period of at least three years, (3) imposed a fine of $50,000, and (4) required him to complete 40 additional hours of continuing professional education before filing a petition to become an associated person with a registered public accounting firm.

The Board imposed the sanctions because of its findings that Carpio violated PCAOB rules and standards in connection with an audit for an issuer client. The infractions included violations of PCAOB rules and standards in evaluating the issuer’s revenue recognition, an identified fraud risk; failure to appropriately supervise the engagement team; and violations of PCAOB audit documentation requirements.

The settled order is available here.
