PCAOB Names Sabahat Qamar as Its First Investor Advocate

On June 7, 2022, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board announced that it appointed Sabahat Qamar to be the PCAOB’s first Investor Advocate. Qamar’s responsibilities as Investor Advocate will include serving as the PCAOB’s point of contact for investors and enhancing engagement between the Board and investors. Prior to hiring Qamar, the PCAOB also announced that it intended for the Investor Advocate to serve as co-chair of the Board’s Investor Advisory Group.

Qamar previously worked at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as Senior Financial Analyst in the Division of Complex Institution Supervision and Resolution. Prior to joining the FDIC, Qamar served as legal counsel in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Qamar will assume the position of Investor Advocate on July 11, 2022.
