backOn August 10, 2023, the PCAOB issued its annual report on the Interim Inspection Program Related to Audits of Brokers and Dealers, which summarizes the Board’s inspection approach and observations for 2022 inspections of firms that audit broker-dealers. The report—based on the inspection of 92 audits and 34 examination engagements at 50 different firms—includes a description of the PCAOB’s 2022 inspections approach; a summary of the Board’s observations from inspections, including alleged deficiencies; and suggested “good practices,” including procedures that the PCAOB believes may be effective to address specified scenarios.
