PCAOB Acting Chair Botic Emphasizes PCAOB Relationship with Academic Community in Remarks

On September 26, 2025, Acting Chair George Botic delivered a speech at the Office of Economic and Risk Analysis Registered Reports Conference. In his prepared remarks, Acting Chair Botic focused on the “long-standing relationship between the PCAOB and the academic community.” Acting Chair Botic highlighted ways that academic participation has benefited the PCAOB and how academic research informs auditing standards and the PCAOB’s inspection program. He also encouraged continuing collaboration between the PCAOB and academics.  

The speech was titled “The ‘Custodians of Audit Knowledge’: The Need for Academic Research and The Longstanding Relationship Between the PCAOB and the Academic Community.”
