King & Spalding Continues Expansion of Complex Commercial and IP Litigation Capabilities, Adding Two Partners in Chicago

Saranya Raghavan and Brian Nisbet further strengthen firm’s IP litigation and trial bench and bring continued growth in Chicago

CHICAGO, June 25, 2026 – King & Spalding announced today that Saranya Raghavan and Brian Nisbet have joined the firm as partners in the Business Litigation practice group. They are based in the Chicago office.

Nisbet represents companies in patent, trade secret, and commercial disputes and has been involved in numerous trials that proceeded to verdict in courts across the country. In addition to his intellectual property litigation experience, he has handled products liability, mass tort, and other complex commercial matters. Raghavan is a former engineer and software developer who focuses her practice on intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent litigation involving complex technologies, including matters involving telecommunications, networking, and medical devices.

Raghavan and Nisbet join the firm from Winston & Strawn, reuniting with their 15 colleagues who joined the firm as partners earlier this year: litigators Tom Melsheimer, Steve Stodghill, Natalie Arbaugh, Rex Mann, Michael Bittner, Ahtoosa Dale, Chad Walker, LeElle Slifer, John T. Sullivan, and Katrina Eash and finance partners Jeff Cole and Brian Jansen in Dallas, as well as litigators Danielle Williams in Charlotte, Brian Ferguson in Washington, D.C., and Mike Rueckheim in San Francisco.

“Saranya and Brian are exactly the kind of high-caliber partners we are prioritizing as we continue to grow in Chicago,” said Zach Fardon, managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office. “Saranya adds important technical sophistication and patent litigation strength at a time when demand for those capabilities continues to grow, and Brian brings proven trial ability and broad litigation versatility to our team. Their arrival strengthens our ability to serve clients in sophisticated disputes and underscores our long-term commitment to building a leading litigation platform in Chicago.”

Raghavan and Nisbet are the second and third partners to join the firm’s Business Litigation practice group in Chicago this year. In February, the firm welcomed first-chair trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor Tinos Diamantatos to the office.

“King & Spalding has one of the most formidable litigation practices in the market, and the opportunity to join a firm with this kind of strength and long-term vision was incredibly compelling,” said Nisbet.

“I am excited to rejoin my previous colleagues and to be part of King & Spalding’s tremendous platform, including its strong Chicago presence, which the firm is deeply invested in continuing to build,” said Raghavan.

Raghavan earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she served as an assistant editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property. She also holds a B.S., magna cum laude, from Florida Institute of Technology and an M.S. from Purdue University, both in electrical and computer engineering. Nisbet earned his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law. He received his B.A. and B.B.A., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame.
