Product Liability Partner Julia Zousmer, Senior Associate Leila Morgan, and Business Litigation Associate Roy Falik recently presented to faculty, staff, and medical students at Rosalind Franklin Chicago Medical School (University of Chicago) on May 7, 2026. During the session, they provided practical guidance to medical professionals on what it means to serve as fact and expert witnesses in litigation. The panel explored the different roles experts can play in developing the case and at trial, the standards for qualifying as an expert, how expert testimony is challenged, and the qualities that contribute to credibility and effectiveness. They also discussed the unique roles psychiatrists are often asked to play as expert witnesses in litigation.
