The new EU anti-money laundering directive is entering its home straight: A package of rules strengthening the EU’s toolkit to fight money laundering and terrorist financing was adopted by the European Parliament on April 24, 2024 and by the European Council on May 30, 2024. It is now awaiting publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, will enter into force 20 days later and will apply three years after that (only the football industry will be granted a grace period of two additional years).
At our breakfast seminar, we will focus on the due diligence obligations under the new regulations, considering them in the context of the current obligations and recent statements of the supervisory authorities.
We will also examine the impact of the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Authority (AMLA), which will be created as a result of the new directive, on the German financial sector. We look forward to discussing the pros and cons of the new requirements with you.
