King & Spalding is a finalist for a Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America Award in the Science & Technology Sector for its trial victory on behalf of mobile game maker Skillz Platform Inc.
In April 2026, K&S secured a major jury verdict and the largest Lanham Act award ever on behalf of Skillz in a false advertising dispute against Papaya, which was ordered to pay $420M in damages and $719M in disgorgement. The firm was recognized for the innovative nature of its trial strategy in the matter, which included developing a litigation model for technology-driven false advertising disputes of this magnitude. A key component of the strategy allowed for the translation of sophisticated technical evidence into clear language while avoiding unnecessary complexity, enabling jurors to understand the mechanics of the alleged deception without requiring specialist knowledge.
