Bowman is a first-chair trial lawyer and commercial litigator who handles complex business disputes in federal and state courts throughout the United States, as well as in domestic and international arbitrations. His practice focuses on high-stakes commercial litigation, including life sciences collaboration and licensing disputes, post-acquisition and other M&A-related litigation, trade secret and restrictive covenant matters, antitrust disputes, and litigation involving private equity, venture capital, investment management, and technology clients.

Bowman joins King & Spalding from Cooley, where he was a partner. He earned his J.D. from Yale Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from Columbia University.

With the arrival of Phil Bowman, King & Spalding has now added 64 partners in 2026. Of these 64 partners, 23 are in the Business Litigation practice group, and 18 are based in New York.
