Simon Maynard resolves complex commercial disputes under English and international law. He has particular expertise in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration, with a focus on disputes concerning upstream oil and gas, renewables and the energy transition, and the TMT sector.
Simon has been recognized by Euromoney as a "Rising Star" for international arbitration from 2018-2020.
Simon's practice is evenly balanced between commercial and investment treaty arbitration. He has acted in disputes under all the major arbitral rules, including in over a dozen investment treaty arbitrations, and has extensive experience handling disputes involving States or State entities. Simon also accepts appointments as arbitrator and features in the pool of arbitrators of the LCIA and the Court of Arbitration for Art.
Simon is a thought-leader in the field and his recent publications have appeared in Arbitration International and Transnational Dispute Management.
