• Representing a contractor in a confidential EPC contract arbitration connected with a major energy project in Peru. The arbitration is administered by the ICC.
• Representing Backus and the largest brewer company in an ICSID dispute against Peru concerning the application of certain taxes and the resulting breach of international treaties.
• Representing Gasoducto Sur Peruano in an ICSID contract dispute against Peru concerning issues around the cancellation of the largest gas pipeline project in Peru.
• Representing a Lima Expresa and french company VINCI in various disputes under the Concession Agreement with the City of Lima, the France-Peru BIT, and other confidential commercial agreements entered into by our client. Among other things, the dispute relates to the nullification of the Concession Agreement to build and operate a highway and tunnel in the City of Lima, and also to delay and cost overruns claims.
• Representing Sociedad Aeroportuaria Kuntur Wasi and Corporacion America in an international arbitration against the Peruvian government for the cancellation of the new Cuzco aiport. The dispute is before ICSID.
• Representing Desarrollo Vial de los Andes in an ICSID dispute against Peru regarding the impossibility to collect toll fees in one of the highest roads in Latin America.
• Represented Refineria de Cartagena in a dispute arising from construction of a crude oil refinery. The dispute is before the ICC and deals with one of the largest construction projects in South America. We secured a US$+1billion award in favor of our client.
• Represented a U.S. mining company against Peru in parallel investor-state and commercial arbitrations regarding a mining project.
• Represented companies (owners, constructors, designers) in complex construction disputes through alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including mediation, dispute boards proceedings and particularly national and international arbitration.
• Advised the concessionaire in drafting different types of contracts (Design, EPC, EPCM) for the expansion of an international airport
• Advised a Regional Government in Peru in an irrigation project which will provide water for 60 hectares of land and generate around 4000 GW of energy per year
• Represented the EPC constructor in one of the the biggest pipeline projects in Peru
• Advised the constructor in a major transportation project in Lima
• Represented a construction company in the filing of seven co-financed, private initiatives for USD 1 billion to design, rebuild and operate educational facilities in Peru
• Represented the constructor in a USD 350 million water treatment plant contract in Lima
• Advised the constructor of a major hydroelectrical power plant in Peru

Renzo is a senior associate in the International Arbitration & Litigation practice group. He has over 9 years of experience in domestic and international arbitration, particularly in construction disputes. He has represented companies in some of the major public construction projects in Peru, including industries such as transportation (roads, ports, airports, bridges), irrigation, energy, education, oil, gas and mining. He has also experience dealing with design, EPC, EPCM, BOT, BOOT and FIDIC contracts.

Renzo studied law at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and received his LL.M. degree (honors) from Georgetown University Law Center in 2018, where he attended as an international arbitration program scholar. Besides, in 2017, Chambers and Partners ranked him as an ‘associate to watch’ in the areas of Projects and Arbitration. He is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English.
