Rafaela is an associate in the Special Matters & Government Investigations practice in the New York office. Her practice focuses on civil and criminal government investigations, internal investigations and crisis management, and providing guidance to companies on the development and implementation of their compliance programs. As a dual-qualified lawyer in the U.S. and Brazil, she assists international companies dealing with anti-corruption issues, compliance matters, and other cross-border needs. Rafaela has represented clients before the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), as well as other domestic and international authorities.

Rafaela earned her law degree (LL.B.) from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie in São Paulo and she holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from New York University School of Law. She was awarded a scholarship from Instituto Ling to pursue her LL.M. studies. During her time at NYU, she served as the President of the Brazilian Legal Society, an association dedicated to fostering discussions on legal, political, and economic matters concerning Brazil and the United States.

Prior to joining King & Spalding in 2018, Rafaela practiced in Brazil from 2012 to 2017. She contributed to the compliance team of a Brazilian infrastructure company, where she worked on the development and implementation of their anti-corruption compliance program from 2016 to 2017. Additionally, she was an associate in the antitrust practice of a leading full-service law firm based in São Paulo, from 2012 to 2016.
