She has handled a significant number of civil matters in state and federal courts across the country. Quyen’s representative clients include public and venture-backed companies across industries, and located in the United States and across the globe.  Her clients include: Chevron, Walmart, Rakuten, Applied Materials, VNG Corporation, Netgear, Honda, Flowers Foods, Varian Medical Systems, Sutter Health, Molina Healthcare, McDonald's, Public Storage, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, and NRG Energy.

Quyen serves as lead counsel in numerous consumer class action matters in state and federal courts throughout the country in various industries. She regularly litigates consumer statutes as varied as Business & Professions Code Sections 17200/17500, Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA),  and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). She litigated a class action lawsuit and successfully had a $1 billion claim dismissed at the summary judgment stage. She also led her team in defeating several high-stakes class action claims worth over $120 million through dispositive motion practice, and devised the strategy to decertify a $64 million class action.

Aside from her class action defense practice, Quyen has litigated numerous business matters in various substantive areas of law, including patent law, trade secrets misappropriation, legal malpractice (defense), false claims act, securities, and other high-stakes business disputes.  

Quyen was selected by The Recorder as a Lawyer on the Fast Track based on her career achievements and leadership roles within her practice and the larger community. She has also been selected as a Women Leaders in Tech Law by The Recorder and she received the 2018 Young Alumna Award from UC Berkeley School of Law.  In 2021, she was named a "Thought Leader" and was recognized by Corporate Counsel Magazine at its Women, Influence & Power in Law conference.  Quyen has also been named a Top Trade Secrets Lawyer in California.  She has been recognized by various other bar organizations for her professional achievements, community service, and commitment to diversity and inclusion. She is a Co-founder of the Berkeley Law First Generation Professionals Institute and Co-Chairs K&S' First Generation Professionals Affinity Group. Recognized as a leader in the Northern District of California, she was selected by the federal judges to serve a three-year term as a Lawyer Representative. In 2016, she co-chaired the Northern District's Lawyer Representatives Committee. Prevailed on a summary judgment motion dismissing the class’ claimed $1 billion RICO claim. The matter settled favorably two days before trial

Representing Healthcare company in various class action lawsuits across the country based on consumer statutes (California, Florida and Illinois). Prevailed in numerous matters based on dispositive motion practice, or settled favorably.

Defended Public Storage in two class actions worth over $120 million alleging violations of California Business & Professions Code Section 17200 and the Consumer Legal Remedies Act. Obtained victories on demurrer, summary judgment and opposition to class certification

Defended Public Storage in a lawsuit brought in New Jersey District Court under the Truth-in-Consumer Contract, Warranty and Notice Act (TCCWNA) and successfully crafted decertification motion based on Spokeo v. Robins.

Defended two public companies in five TCPA class action lawsuits across the country, and settled matters favorably.

Defeated numerous consumer class actions filed against public company clients based on motions to compel arbitration.

Intellectual Property/Trade Secrets Misappropriation

Represented Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) against Tela Innovations in the ITC and in the District of Delaware in two cases concerning patents that relate to integrated circuit design. Successfully limited the ITC investigation only to TSMC’s importations into the U.S., as opposed to TSMC’s customers; negotiated a resolution between the two companies that resulted in TSMC purchasing a portion of Tela Innovations

Represented TSMC when Zond threatened to sue for patent infringement on six patents in Massachusetts. On behalf of TSMC, filed a declaratory-judgment action in Delaware and successfully moved the court to order Zond not to pursue parallel litigation in Massachusetts. In tandem with institution of IPRs on several of Zond’s patents, negotiated a settlement with Zond for a fraction of other settlements

Won summary judgment of non-infringement for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and its subsidiary TSMC North America in a long-running patent lawsuit brought by North Carolina semiconductor company Ziptronix Inc.

Represented TSMC against China's then-leading semiconductor manufacturer, SMIC, in the largest trade secret misuse case tried to date. Following a jury verdict on liability in favor of TSMC, SMIC agreed to pay $200 million in cash and approximately $130 million of its company stock

Represented Silicon Valley, venture-backed microlending company in pursuing potential trade secrets and civil claims against one of its former co-founders and executives

Defended HTC in a five-patent investigation brought by Kodak before the International Trade Commission

Other Complex Civil Cases

Brought lawsuit against a Bank on behalf of its former CFO when the Bank failed to meet its contractual duties to pay out promised compensation. Obtained a defense verdict on the contract claim. The case settled shortly before the jury rendered a verdict on the tort phase of the trial

Represented a German paint manufacturing lawsuit in a qui tam matter filed in the N.D. Cal. All claims but one dismissed with prejudice on motion practice; Matter settled favorably thereafter.

Successfully defended at trial an Am Law 50 law firm and one of its former partners against a $100 million claim in California state court, which resulted in a complete defense verdict.

Represented Varian Medical Systems in an AAA arbitration involving claims of breaches of contract and confidentiality filed against Varian. Claimant Equicare Health demanded over $22 million in damages; Three-arbitrator Panel issued award providing just $39,000 in damages.
