People

Matthew Meltzer is an Associate in the Special Matters & Government Investigations practice in King & Spalding’s New York office. Matt’s practice focuses on federal government investigations, corporate internal investigations, and white collar criminal defense litigation. 

Matt has represented clients in proceedings involving a wide array of federal, state, and self-regulatory agencies, such as the Justice Department (DOJ), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), State Attorneys General, and various Congressional Committees. Matt maintains a significant pro bono practice where he has represented Afghan citizens and victims of domestic violence in their efforts to gain US citizenship. 

Matt earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School with Honors. While a law student, Matt interned with the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York in their General Crimes, National Security, and International Narcotics Units. He also interned with the Kings County District Attorney's Office and the New York Legal Assistance Group. Before attending law school, Matt was a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy for five years. During this time he was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and Sasebo, Japan. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy with Merit.
