Matthew Kita is a partner in the Finance and Restructuring practice group based in the firm’s Charlotte office. He focuses on leveraged finance transactions representing financial institutions and private equity sponsors.
Matthew’s practice centers on leveraged finance, with a particular focus on representing institutional lenders, financial institutions, private equity sponsors and corporate borrowers in connection with acquisition financings, refinancings, recapitalizations and working capital facilities.
Matthew is a highly capable, market-savvy finance lawyer known for building strong, long-term relationships with institutional lenders, private equity sponsors and portfolio companies and for delivering responsive, business-focused counsel through the lifecycle of a deal. His extensive borrower-side experience representing private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies gives him a well-rounded perspective on deal dynamics and counterparty expectations which allows him to anticipate borrower positions, negotiate effectively from the lender’s perspective and work seamlessly alongside the firm’s private equity and corporate practices to support broader client needs.
