Juan Yaquian is a patent litigator with a strong technical background in electrical engineering (EE). Juan has experience handling cases in a wide array of venues, including in district courts, the PTAB, the Federal Circuit, and the ITC. He has been listed multiple times in The Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America and has been recognized as one of the top 100 attorneys in PTAB Litigation (Patexia 2025).
Juan focuses his practice on intellectual property (IP) law, with an emphasis on patent litigation, PTAB proceedings, IP risk management, licensing, and counseling. Through his work as an electrical engineer at Qualcomm, and research at UC Berkeley and MIT, Juan has a deep technical understanding in electrical engineering-based technical areas, as well as knowledge and experience with standards-based technologies, including Bluetooth, memory, and wireless communications standards. His technical background enables him to break down complex technology issues into simpler terms for his clients and to identify creative solutions to those complex technology issues.
Juan is experienced in all aspects of patent litigation and PTAB proceedings, including performing pre-filing investigations, handling complex discovery, preparing for and presenting at Markman hearings, working with fact and expert witnesses, preparing the case for dispositive motions and trial, and through appeal up to the Federal Circuit.
Juan has represented clients in the telecommunications, computer, electronics, semiconductor, memory, energy, automotive, networking, virtualization, cyber security, financial services, display, and medical devices industries.
