• Secured complete dismissals on behalf of a healthcare revenue cycle technology company and its founders in multiple RICO lawsuits brought by affiliates of a large commercial healthcare insurer based on the initiation of IDR proceedings under the No Surprises Act.
• Secured complete dismissals for a national physician practice management organization and affiliated medical groups in multiple purported nationwide class actions alleging liability based on unreasonable charges for physician professional services.
• Secured a complete dismissal with prejudice at summary judgment for a national operator of wound care centers in a False Claims Act qui tam action in which a former employee alleged noncompliance with regulations regarding the provision of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
• Conducted an internal investigation for a world-renowned academic medical center in response to allegations of grant fraud brought by the former chair of a major academic department.

Jonah Retzinger is a fierce advocate for the healthcare provider community.  He represents and defends healthcare providers, health systems, and health technology companies throughout the country in complex civil litigation, regulatory enforcement actions, and government investigations. He has extensive experience navigating high-stakes matters involving the No Surprises Act and the federal False Claims Act.

Jonah serves lead counsel in pioneering litigation involving the No Surprises Act (NSA) and the federal Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process. He spearheaded the defense in many of the first federal lawsuits filed by healthcare insurers seeking to chill and disrupt the IDR process through litigation, in which he secured multiple complete dismissals for his clients.  He counsels clients nationally on NSA compliance and is regularly engaged to help providers navigate payor bad faith conduct in the revenue cycle and other complex reimbursement matters.

In addition to his NSA practice, Jonah represents healthcare providers in government investigations and litigation involving the federal False Claims Act (FCA). He began his legal career clerking at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Office of Counsel to Inspector General (OIG), and he brings deep practical insight to complex healthcare regulatory issues, including those involving the Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), Stark Law, and Civil Monetary Penalties Law. He routinely advocates on behalf of clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, OIG, and state enforcement agencies.
