Emily draws on a diverse background in federal litigation, ecological science, and natural resources planning to counsel industry clients through complex environmental and regulatory challenges.
Prior to joining the firm, Emily served as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division, where she was hired through the Attorney General's Honors Program. In that role, she acted as litigation defense counsel for federal agencies against claims arising under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), and the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Emily has experience across all stages of complex civil de novo litigation in federal courts and has secured favorable outcomes for her clients through settlement negotiations, discovery disputes, dispositive briefing, and at trial.
Emily graduated summa cum laude from Vermont Law School, where she served as Senior Articles Editor for the Vermont Law Review, Volume 47. During law school, she was a judicial extern at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and a law clerk at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Prior to law school, Emily earned an M.S. in Ecological Design and a B.S. in Environmental Geochemistry.
